Broad Daylight Stabbing Sparks Police Lockdown in Peckham
Chaos erupted in Peckham after a man was stabbed in broad daylight on Friday afternoon. The violent attack happened just before 1pm at the busy junction of Peckham High Street and Rye Lane, sparking a swift police response.
Major Road Closures and Bus Disruptions
Police immediately sealed off Peckham High Street, Peckham Hill Street, and Rye Lane, shutting down all traffic in both directions. The closures have caused widespread disruption across the area, with numerous bus routes affected. Services 12, 36, 37, 63, 78, 136, 171, 177, 197, 343, 345, 363, 381, 436, P12, and P13 are currently suspended or diverted due to the police cordon.
Victim Stable as Two Men Arrested
A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed officers were called at 12:57pm following reports of the stabbing. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service rushed to the scene and treated a 19-year-old victim, who was taken to hospital with a non-life-threatening stab wound.
“Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident and are now in custody,” the spokesman added.
