Special Constables Heroically Rescue Missing Elderly Man in Chatham
On Saturday 24 April 2021, 22 special constables teamed up with regular officers to tackle a wide range of incidents across Medway. Their top achievement? Safely locating a vulnerable elderly man who had gone missing after a thorough search.
Over 30 Calls Handled – From Stalking to Fire
The volunteers responded to more than 30 urgent calls during their shift. They played a crucial role in a serious stalking and harassment case, protecting a vulnerable victim. Later, they swiftly secured and evacuated the scene of a fire on Palmerstone Road, Chatham, keeping the public safe from harm.
Two arrests were made: one for breach of the peace and another related to a domestic assault.
Volunteer Cops Get Praise From Inspections
“Once again the Special Constabulary has provided an excellent service, dealing with a wide variety of incidents, including important medical concerns,” said Inspector Amanda Oldacre of the Citizens in Policing Department. “Their dedication is hugely appreciated and key to keeping our communities safe.”
