Woodmill Lane Reopens After Crash Repairs – But Brace for More Closures!
Crash Damage Repairs Complete
Southampton City Council has confirmed that urgent work to stabilise the damaged heritage building wall is finished. This allowed them to remove the dangerous propping that forced Woodmill Lane’s closure on health and safety grounds.
Road Reopening & Upcoming Closures
Woodmill Lane will reopen from early Sunday, 23 May, running through to the evening of Monday, 31 May. But don’t get too comfortable — the road will close again from Monday evening for around one week as further repairs begin.
The council urges drivers and pedestrians to plan their journeys carefully while work continues.
Teen Arrested After Crash Into The SUP Company Building
The drama started when a Nissan Micra carrying a group of youths crashed into the building owned by The SUP Company on Woodmill Lane. Police have since arrested a 14-year-old in connection with the smash. The investigation is still ongoing.
Council Statement
“We are mobilising specialist contractors to temporarily reopen Woodmill Lane to all traffic and ensure pedestrian safety from 23 May. The second repair phase kicks off on Tuesday, 1 June, taking about a week. Woodmill Lane will close during this period with a diversion in place,” said Southampton City Council.
