Tragic End to Search for Missing Walker Neil Cowking

A body has been discovered in the hunt for 85-year-old Neil Cowking, who went missing during a walking holiday in Northumberland.

Missing Man Found in Breamish Valley

Neil was last seen near River Breamish Caravan Park, north of Northumberland, on Sunday. After an extensive search involving local teams and walkers, a body was found on Monday, about 2 miles west of Ingram in the Breamish Valley.

Formal identification is pending, but officials believe the body to be Neil’s. His family have been informed.

Police Pay Tribute and Confirm No Suspicious Circumstances

Superintendent Brad Howe said: “This is an extremely tragic outcome and our thoughts remain with Neil’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

“I want to thank everyone who has helped with the search, including the Mountain Rescue Team who greatly assisted throughout the operation, as well as those who came forward with information.

We do not believe there to be any third party involvement. Once formal identification has been completed, a report will be prepared for the coroner.”
