Appeal After Pedestrian Seriously Injured in East Ham Crash
Police are hunting witnesses after a pedestrian was seriously hurt in a frightening car crash late on Friday night in East Ham.
Serious Collision Shuts Down Major Road
The smash happened around 11.20pm on June 19 at the junction of Tilbury Road and High Street South. The scene is under full investigation. Meanwhile, High Street South remains shut to traffic as officers comb the area for clues.
Driver Stops to Help Victim
The pedestrian was struck by a car whose driver stopped immediately and tried to assist. Emergency teams including paramedics, specialist HART squads from the London Ambulance Service, and doctors from the London Air Ambulance rushed to the scene.
Police Seek Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
The Metropolitan Police Roads Policing team is now appealing for anyone who saw what happened to come forward. They are particularly keen to speak with a bus driver who was behind a white car just before the collision.
A Met spokesperson said: “Can you help our collision investigation team? We are appealing for witnesses to a collision between a car and a pedestrian on Friday, June 19th at around 11.20pm on High Street South in East Ham. The pedestrian was seriously injured. The driver stopped and assisted, but we need more witnesses.”
