Katie McCabe Signs New Arsenal Women’s Deal
Arsenal Women have tied down star forward Katie McCabe with a brand-new contract. The Republic of Ireland captain has been a Gunner since 2015, racking up an impressive 193 appearances for the club.
Star-Studded Season for McCabe
Last season, McCabe dazzled with 38 appearances across all competitions. She bagged Arsenal’s Player of the Season award and scored the WSL Goal of the Season with a stunning strike against Manchester City. Her incredible form earned her a spot in the UEFA Women’s Champions League Team of the Season.
International Heroics & Ballon d’Or Nod
McCabe’s skill wasn’t limited to club action. She shone on the global stage at the 2023 Women’s World Cup, netting a crucial goal against Canada in the group stage. Her breakthrough year culminated in a prestigious Ballon d’Or nomination.
“Arsenal is home for me, and I’m excited to have committed my future to this football club,” McCabe declared.
Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall praised the winger’s influence, saying, “She has been one of the top performers in world football… her quality and character are integral to what we do here.”
Tottenham’s Van de Ven Aims High
Over at Spurs, summer signing Micky Van de Ven is keen to make waves. The 22-year-old Dutch defender hopes to match the Premier League success of compatriot Virgil van Dijk by partnering up with Christian Romero in central defence.
Van de Ven said, “Cuti is just an amazing player, and I know when I run in 1, he is in my back because he is always there.” He sees their contrasting styles — his calmness and Romero’s aggression — as the perfect combo.
