Man in his 40s found dead in Devizes canal

A man in his 40s has been discovered lifeless in the canal near Horton Avenue, Devizes, Wiltshire Police confirmed.

Emergency services were called just before 7pm on Friday, 30 May, after a member of the public spotted a body in the water.

Body Recovered from Canal

Police and recovery crews swiftly attended the scene and recovered the man’s body from the canal.

No Suspicious Circumstances, Family Notified

Wiltshire Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. Formal identification is yet to take place, but the man’s family have been informed.

“Our thoughts are with the man’s loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. While formal identification is pending, we can confirm that next of kin have been notified,” a police spokesperson said.

Investigation Continues

Although the death is not considered suspicious, inquiries remain ongoing. A report will be prepared for the coroner as the investigation progresses.
