Teen Charged with Murder After Tilehurst Stabbing
The police were called to Romany Lane, Tilehurst, on Sunday (31/10) after reports of a stabbing.
The victim was 22-year-old Reece Heffernan from Tilehurst. A post-mortem revealed he died from a stab wound to the chest. Our thoughts are with his family during this tough time.
17-Year-Old Arrested and Charged
On the night of 4/11, a 17-year-old boy from Earley was arrested on suspicion of murder. He has since been charged with:
- One count of murder
- One count of perverting the course of justice
- One count of possession of a bladed article
He is set to appear at Reading Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (6/11).
Two More Men Charged in Same Investigation
Yesterday, two men were also charged in connection with the shocking stabbing:
- Hamzah Ahmed, 18, of Jubilee Road, Reading – charged with murder.
- Umer Arshad, 23, of Waterloo Road, Wokingham – charged with perverting the course of justice.
Both appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court today and are due back at Reading Crown Court on Monday (8/11).
Additional Arrests Made, Men Released Under Investigation
Police arrested a 29-year-old man and two 19-year-olds from Reading on suspicion of murder. They have now been released under investigation as the inquiry continues.
