11 Years On: The Tragic Mystery of Scott’s Disappearance
It’s been 11 long years since 27-year-old Scott vanished without a trace. What started as a missing person case in May 2011 soon turned into a murder investigation by 2015. The last confirmed sighting of Scott was near the Jet garage on the A181 at Wheatley Hill.
Family’s Heartache Deepens as Father Dies Without Answers
Scott’s mum, Julie Fletcher, has been left shattered by the lack of closure—especially after Scott’s dad, John, passed away earlier this year following a long illness. Julie said: “We all miss Scott every day. As a family, we have suffered greatly over the years and we just want to lay him to rest properly. Eleven years is too long to not know the truth. The pain and agony we suffer daily is indescribable.”
Police Press for Witnesses as £10,000 Reward Remains Unclaimed
Seven men were arrested over suspicion of conspiracy to murder but were later released. Police believe Scott was killed in the Durham area, and that his body was hidden shortly afterwards.
Detective Chief Superintendent Phil Bond urged the public: “Scott was a family man with a young daughter. He had debts and was linked to the criminal underworld—these may be connected to his disappearance. Despite several appeals, those who know what happened remain silent, possibly due to fear.”
Crimestoppers continues to offer a £10,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction. The organisation guarantees anonymity to anyone willing to come forward.
