Bomb Scare Closes Westbrook Way and Surrounding Streets

A 50-metre safety cordon is in place after a suspicious item was found in the area. Homes within the zone, including parts of Westbrook Way, Eric Meadus Close, and Wessex Lane (between Wide Lane and Farmery Close), have been evacuated to protect residents.

Roads Shut and Residents Told to Stay Indoors

Authorities have shut down roads and nearby footpaths. Residents are urged to remain indoors while the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team handles the situation. Farmery Close remains closed as well, and one local railway station has been advised of the incident.

Experts on Site to Dispose of Dangerous Item

Police confirm they are working closely with bomb disposal experts to deal with the item safely. For your safety, avoid the area until the operation is complete.

“Please steer clear of the area while we carry out the disposal,” said James Butler, Police Corporate Communications Officer for Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
