Shoreditch Blaze: Half-Basement Kitchen Ravaged in Morning Fire
Massive Fire Breaks Out on Curtain Road
At around 10.30am this morning, a fierce fire erupted on Curtain Road, Shoreditch, sparking a huge emergency response. Six fire engines and roughly 40 firefighters rushed to the scene to battle the blaze.
Fire Ravages Basement Kitchen and Ground Floor
The inferno gutted half of a basement kitchen and damaged part of the building’s ground floor. Luckily, one man escaped the building before firefighters arrived. He was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service crews.
Another man was rescued from a third-floor flat with the help of firefighters, who guided him down an external staircase to safety.
Road Closures and Investigation Underway
The fire was brought under control by 11.15am. While investigators probe the fire’s cause, authorities shut down the junction of Curtain Road and Great Eastern Street to keep the public safe.
Firefighters from Shoreditch, Bethnal Green, and nearby stations all pitched in to tackle the blaze.
