Historic Thatched Cottage Razed in Early Morning Blaze
Firefighters battled through the night to tackle a fierce blaze at a historic thatched roof cottage. The fire tore through the 15-metre-by-five-metre property, destroying the roof before crews brought it under control.
Road Closure and Ongoing Dampening Efforts
Three fire crews remain on site this morning, dampening down hotspots to prevent flare-ups. Meanwhile, Cressing Road is shut between Coggeshall Road and Trotters Field as emergency teams work. Motorists are urged to find alternative routes.
Heroes Save Neighbours and Valuables
Luckily, the occupants escaped without injury. “Thanks to our firefighters’ skill and professionalism, the fire was stopped from spreading to neighbouring homes,” said Station Manager Howard Midwood. “We also managed to save as many personal possessions as possible inside.”
The cause of the fire will be thoroughly investigated as authorities assess the full extent of the damage.
