Dramatic Rescue at Seaham Harbour: Woman Trapped in Rocks Freed by Heroes
A tense rescue unfolded yesterday morning at Seaham Harbour as a woman’s leg got trapped in the jagged rocks. Firefighters from Seaham and Peterlee teams sprang into action, joined by HM Coastguard, North East Ambulance Service, Great North Air Ambulance, the HART Team, and local fishermen.
Fast Response Saves the Day
At 11:50am on Sunday, November 21, HM Coastguard alerted the County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service control. Fire crews from Seaham and Peterlee were immediately sent to the scene, with the boat crew also on hand.
Specialist Gear and Airlift Rescue
The fire crews used specialist working-at-height equipment to free the trapped woman. By 12:30pm, she was airlifted to hospital. Thankfully, her injuries are reported as not serious.
The teamwork between emergency services and local fishermen was crucial in pulling off this swift, safe rescue.
