Tragic Helicopter Crash: Five Dead in Snowdonia Wreckage
Mountain Rescue teams have uncovered the wreckage of a missing helicopter in Snowdonia. All five on board the privately-owned Twin Squirrel aircraft have died.
Disappearance Sparks Massive Search
The helicopter left Milton Keynes" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Milton Keynes on Wednesday, bound for Dublin with a stopover at Caernarfon Bay. It vanished on Wednesday afternoon, sparking a huge air, land, and sea search.
Two Coastguard helicopters combed the skies for hours, but worsening weather forced the search to pause overnight.
Owners Identified, Families Mourn
The chopper is owned by Staske Construction Ltd, run by Kevin and Ruth Burke from Milton Keynes. The couple, believed to be on board, purchased the aircraft in 2008 and rent it out to film crews.
Police have not released the victims’ names but confirmed specialist family liaison officers are supporting their loved ones.
Focus Shifts to Snowdonia
After analysing flight data, authorities narrowed the search to the Snowdonia area, near Trawsfynydd. Police urge anyone who spotted a low-flying helicopter in the area to come forward.
Local Mountain Rescue Teams have joined the effort, tackling challenging terrain in grim conditions.
“All available Police, Mountain Rescue and other civilian resources are currently being utilised,” said Superintendent Gareth Evans of North Wales Police. “Our thoughts are very much with the families at this difficult time.”
