Grandmother, 90, Dies After Wootton Crash on Isle of Wight

A beloved grandmother has tragically died following a crash in Wootton, Isle of Wight. Jacqueline Valvona, 90, passed away at Southampton General Hospital on August 20, after being hit by a BMW earlier this month.

Crash Details

Jacqueline was struck by a BMW X3 on Kite Hill just before 4.30pm on August 2. The driver, a 75-year-old man, escaped unharmed. Police are still investigating the circumstances and appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Family Pays Heartfelt Tribute

“Jacqueline was a much loved mother, grandmother, and friend to many,” her family said. “She was vivacious, charismatic, generous, and fiercely independent. Born prematurely in Paris in 1928 and not expected to survive, she lived to 90, spending 65 years on the Island. She was truly one of a kind.” “We thank all emergency services for their professional and kind support, especially Southampton General Hospital staff who looked after our mum and family wonderfully.”

Police Appeal for Witnesses
