Firefighters Race to Crown Quay Lane

Fire crews scrambled to a kitchen fire on Crown Quay Lane, Sittingbourne, late on Saturday, January 18, 2025. The alarm sounded at 11:37pm, prompting Kent Fire and Rescue Service to dispatch two fire engines.

Firefighters, kitted out with breathing apparatus, doused the flames shooting from the hob and surrounding kitchen areas using high-pressure hose reel jets. They also deployed a positive pressure ventilation fan to blast the smoke out of the property.

The blaze was under control and fully out by 12:35am Sunday.

Luckily, No One Hurt

Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the fiery incident.

Fire officials have issued a stern reminder to keep kitchen areas clean and clear of flammable clutter. Never leave cooking unattended and always turn off appliances if you leave the room.
