Lottery Scam Doing The Rounds On The Phone

Lottery scam doing the rounds on the phone

A local woman fell victim to a lottery scam this weekend after she was contacted and advised she had won over £130,000 on the Canadian Lottery. All she had to do to claim her winnings was send £530 and then the transfer would be made. This is a long running scam – Never respond to any such communication. If you haven’t entered a lottery then you can’t have won it. We don’t know of any official lottery operators who ask for fees to collect winnings. Any request for a fee payment is a good indication that someone is trying to defraud you.
