M3 Northbound Closed After Serious Crash Near Bagshot
Emergency crews scrambled to the M3 northbound just before 11am Wednesday after a single-vehicle collision near Bagshot brought the motorway to a standstill.
Driver Airlifted With Serious Injuries
Surrey Fire and Rescue sent two appliances but confirmed the driver was not trapped. The Kent and Surrey Air Ambulance rushed the injured driver to hospital. Police say the driver suffered serious injuries.
Roadworker Narrowly Missed as Vehicle Ploughed Into Cones
The car reportedly smashed through cones and closure signs, narrowly missing roadworkers at the scene. A South East Coast Ambulance spokesman said: “We were called to an incident on the M3 London bound just after junction 3. Ambulance crews and paramedics responded quickly. A patient was taken to St Peter’s Hospital in serious condition.”
Long Delays Expected – Take Alternative Routes
Highways England has urged drivers to expect significant delays and use the “Solid Diamond” diversion symbol to avoid the closure. A spokesperson warned: “This closure may be in place for some time. Allow extra time for your journey and consider alternative routes.”
Police say the motorway will remain shut while investigations continue. More updates to follow.
