Blaze Erupts at Walthamstow Block of Flats – 15 Fire Engines in Action
A massive fire has ripped through a seven-storey block of flats on Collendale Road, Walthamstow. London Fire Brigade (LFB) scrambled 15 fire engines and around 130 firefighters to battle the fierce rooftop blaze.
Fire Devours Roof Terrace and Duplex Flat
The inferno is raging across half of a roof terrace on the sixth floor, a small section of the roof, and a duplex flat spanning the fifth and sixth floors. Firefighters are working flat out to stop the flames spreading further in the seven-storey building.
High-Rise Firefighting Tactics in Full Swing
- Two 32-metre turntable ladders serve as water towers and observation platforms.
- LFB’s drone team provides live aerial footage to coordinate the attack.
- Crews deployed from Walthamstow, Tottenham, Hornsey, and surrounding stations.
The Brigade’s Control Officers were swamped with 51 emergency calls, first coming in at 1:35 pm, kicking off a large-scale emergency response.
“Our firefighters are working in incredibly challenging conditions to bring the fire under control. Crews will remain on scene for some time,” a spokesperson said.
Cause Unknown – Residents Urged to Stay Clear
The cause of the blaze remains a mystery. A full fire investigation will kick off once the situation is under control. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
Officials are warning locals to avoid the area and keep windows and doors shut due to thick smoke drifting nearby.
