Person Hit by Train at St Dunstan’s Street Crossing
A shocking incident unfolded tonight (Wednesday 16th November 2022) just after 8pm, when a person was struck by a train at the St Dunstan’s Street level crossing in Canterbury.
Major Rescue Operation Underway
Police, fire crews, and specialist “HART” paramedics have launched a major rescue mission. Officers from Kent Police have shut down Rheims Way, a key road in and out of Canterbury, to aid recovery efforts.
The Kent, Sussex, and Surrey air ambulance service dispatched flying doctors to the scene. They are working closely with the paramedics to treat the seriously injured individual.
Fire Crews Use Rope Rescue to Reach Victim
Kent Fire and Rescue teams deployed a rope rescue system, using a height vehicle to access the injured person. All train lines between affected stations are currently blocked. Emergency services and Network Rail staff are at the scene managing the incident.
Train Disruption Expected
Southern Eastern train services have warned of delays and are arranging replacement bus services where possible.
