Man stabbed to Death in Southampton Named by Police: Shkelzen ‘Genny’ Dauti
Police have named and released the identity of the man whose body was found in #Thornhill yesterday morning( Saturday 12th March 2017). Did you know Shkelzen ‘Genny’ Dauti?. Detectives launched an investigation in Thornhill following the suspicious death of Shkelzen believed to be aged in his twenties from Southampton. Twenty-one-year-old Shkelzen Dauti, better known as Genny, was originally from Albania but more recently had been living in Southampton. He was found on the road in Gilpin Close, Thornhill in the early hours of Saturday morning and died later at Southampton General Hospital. Detective Chief Inspector Ellie Hurd who is leading the investigation, said: “We are still trying to establish the circumstances of what has happened to Genny. It remains unclear at the current time as to how he came to be injured. “We want to hear from anyone who can help us build a better understanding about Genny’s life in Southampton, and in particular, anyone who saw Genny during Friday into the early hours of Saturday. He is understood to have been known by a number of nicknames according to his family. “If you worked with Genny or knew him socially please contact us by calling 101 as soon as possible. “I also want to take the opportunity to thank the local community in Thornhill for their patience and help during this very large scale police operation.” DCI Hurd said police would be continuing to carry out enquiries in the area. Officers carried out an extensive search of the Hinkler Green area yesterday. Officers, wearing gloves, scoured the area around Gilpin Close for evidence, looking on the ground, in shrubs and bushes and under parked cars. Searches were made in the area behind numbers 2-28 and 30-56 Napier Road and 45-71 Ellwood Avenue – blocks which all back onto Gilpin Close – and gardens in Heywood Green. It is believed Genny’s family and friends man were at the scene as the search was made.
