The legendary McRib sandwich, booted off McDonald’s UK menus soon after a brief 2024 comeback, looks to have sneaked back — but not where you’d expect. Fans desperate for the meaty treat may get lucky after frozen McRib patties popped up in a surprise spot.
McRib Hits Discount Aisles at Company Shop
Shoppers have reportedly spotted frozen McRib-style patties for sale at Company Shop, a discount supermarket chain that sells surplus stock from big brands.
An insider at Company Shop revealed:
“We often get surplus food in from some of the big fast-food chains. We’ve had stuff from McDonald’s, KFC, and Greggs.”
The discovery was shared by popular Instagram food page @uknewestfoods, who posted a video showing packs of 10 McRib patties priced at just £2.50.
However, the packaging is unbranded — labeled simply as “legendary rib patties,” with no McDonald’s logo in sight.
Limited Stock, Limited Access
With only 13 Company Shop locations across the UK, the patties are already a rare find. Plus, not everyone can get in. The stores are open exclusively to emergency workers, NHS staff, military personnel, and those on certain benefits like Universal Credit and Housing Benefits.
Stock also changes daily, so the patties’ availability could be fleeting.
Fans Urge McDonald’s to Bring Back the McRib
The sighting has reignited fan fervour for a permanent McRib return. Since its debut in 1981, the sandwich has built a cult following thanks to its elusive menu appearances.
Whether these frozen patties are truly linked to McDonald’s or not, they’ve stoked hopes among fast-food lovers eager for a taste of that iconic barbecue-flavoured burger.
