Missing Linda Chambers: Divers Search Grand Union Canal in Leicestershire
Divers plunged into Loughborough’s Grand Union Canal today (Monday 9 December) in a fresh bid to find Linda Chambers, who vanished months ago. This underwater search follows a three-day sweep last month, where specially trained dogs combed the canal banks with no luck.
Disappearance Sparks Ongoing Police Hunt
Linda, 43, was reported missing on 10 September by a worried friend who hadn’t heard from her for some time. Since then, Leicestershire Police have launched a major appeal, sharing photos of her last known sighting while shopping in Loughborough on 13 April.
Officers also sought info on a man named Garth, believed linked to Linda. Despite tracing him, police remain baffled about Linda’s whereabouts.
Detective Urges Public for Any Clue
“We’re keeping an open mind about where Linda might be,” said Detective Inspector Simon Boden from Leicestershire Police’s Missing Persons team. “With no leads in and around Loughborough, our focus has shifted to the canal. After searches by dogs, today we have divers searching the water. Anyone with any information, no matter how small, could be crucial.”
