Serious Crash in Dorset: Cyclist in Critical Condition

At 6.14pm on Saturday 11 March 2023, Dorset Police rushed to a smash involving a red Toyota Yaris and a pedal cyclist at the junction of Somerford Road and Southey Road.

Emergency Response and Road Closures

Emergency crews treated the cyclist, a local man in his 70s, who was seriously injured and rushed to hospital. He remains in critical condition. His family have been informed.

Police sealed off the area with road closures while conducting investigations at the scene.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

Police Constable Tom Ringer of the traffic unit said: “We are carrying out further enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision. I urge anyone who witnessed the crash but hasn’t contacted police to come forward.”

“If you were driving nearby at the time, please check any dashcam footage for relevant information.”

“Thanks to the public for their patience during the road closures.”
