Papa John’s to Shut 43 UK Stores in Major Shake-Up
Pizza giant Papa John’s is closing 43 of its UK outlets within the next two months. The move is part of a big strategy overhaul aimed at boosting profits and cutting losses from underperforming locations.
Underperforming Sites Axe as Company Refocuses
The decision follows a recent review by Papa John’s International, which flagged these stores as no longer financially viable. The firm plans to redirect resources into more successful venues and invest in new growth areas.
Support Promised for Staff Hit by Closures
Chris Phylactou, Managing Director of Papa John’s UK, stressed the company’s commitment to its employees affected by the cuts.
“We understand the impact this will have on our team members and are committed to supporting them during this time,” said Phylactou.
The business will offer full support and help find redeployment opportunities where possible. Closures should wrap up by mid-May after consultations with staff. The exact number of jobs lost remains undisclosed.
Big Plans for Tech and New Site Formats
Alongside the closures, Papa John’s is ramping up investment in technology to leverage customer data and improve service. The chain is also exploring new locations beyond traditional restaurants, including expanding into holiday parks and forming partnerships with major retailers.
Customers are urged to check with their local Papa John’s for the latest updates on store status.
