Tragedy on M25: Young Man Dies in Horror Crash at Junction 18

Police are urgently hunting witnesses after a fatal smash on the M25 at junction 18 early Monday morning. A red Peugeot 3008 collided with a barrier on the clockwise carriageway just after 7.30am, leaving an 18-year-old passenger dead at the scene.

Fatal Crash Details

The young man suffered fatal injuries despite paramedics’ efforts. The car, carrying four people, included a woman in her 30s and an 11-year-old boy who escaped unscathed. The driver, a man in his 30s, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

The motorway was shut between junctions 17 and 18 until 1pm to allow emergency crews to work and police to investigate.

Police Seek Key Witnesses and Dash Cam Footage

Sergeant James Wood, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: “This is a very upsetting incident in which a young man has sadly lost his life. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.”

Police have identified three lorries they want to trace, believing their drivers or passengers might have vital information. Details are as follows:

  • An articulated lorry with a light-coloured cab, green side curtains, and white rear doors.
  • An articulated flatbed lorry carrying white or light-coloured building bags.
  • A 3.5-tonne flatbed truck, possibly a Ford Transit or Iveco, with a high-level rail or cage, rear tail-lift, carrying traffic cones, and marked as a traffic management vehicle.

If you were driving any of these vehicles – or were near junction 18 on the M25 clockwise around 7.30am – police want to hear from you. Dash cam footage could be crucial to cracking the case.
