Chaos on M27: Junction 11 Shut After Six-Vehicle Smash
Police have slammed shut the M27 between junctions 11 and 12 tonight after a nasty six-vehicle pile-up. The crash, which happened just after 8.30pm, has snarled traffic and left nine people needing medical treatment.
M27 Eastbound Closed – Major Delays Ahead
Hampshire Roads Policing ordered the full closure of the eastbound carriageway, including the entry slip at Junction 11. A source revealed the crash began with a single vehicle, sparking a dangerous chain reaction.
Firefighters from Fareham and Cosham rushed to the scene, using cutting gear to free two trapped people – plus a dog – from the wreckage. Paramedics treated nine casualties, though injuries’ severity remains unclear.
Detours and Driver Alerts

- Take the 3rd exit at the roundabout onto the A27
- At next roundabout, take 1st exit onto A27 eastbound (Porchester Road)

Highways England warns drivers to allow plenty of extra time and follow the black hollow symbol signs for diversion.
Police Plea and Safety Update
“We are managing a six-vehicle crash between junctions 10 and 11,” said a Hampshire Police spokesperson. “The eastbound carriageway is closed. Traffic is heavy and motorists are urged to avoid the area or use alternative routes. Emergency teams are working hard to clear the scene safely. Thanks for your patience.”
By 10.30pm, all lanes were reopened after police and recovery crews cleared the wreckage, easing the gridlock.
