Cumbrian Police Officer Dies in Solo Crash on M6

Tragic Incident on M6

A Cumbria police officer has died after a collision on the M6 today (26th January). Sources told UKNIP the officer passed away at the scene, with no other vehicles involved in the crash.

Crash Location and Ongoing Investigation

The fatal incident happened at around 2pm between junctions 44 and 43. The motorway remains fully closed in both directions as forensic teams investigate. Closures are expected to last through the evening.

Officer’s Family Left Devastated

The officer leaves behind a young family. UKNIP understands his wife, also a serving Cumbria police officer, is mourning the loss. Cumbria Police have confirmed the time and location but have not released further details.

M6 Closure and Diversions

  • Southbound: Exit at J44 and follow the hollow square symbol. At the roundabout, take the 4th exit onto the A7 southbound. In Carlisle, turn left onto the A69 (Victoria Place), then left onto Warwick Road (A69) to rejoin the M6 at J43.
  • Northbound: Exit at J43 and follow the hollow triangle symbol. Take the 1st exit onto the A69 (Warwick Road). At the Warwick Road/Victoria Place junction, turn right onto A69 (Victoria Place), then right onto A7 (Georgian Way) to rejoin M6 at J44.

Traffic stuck between the closure and the crash site is being turned around and redirected via slip roads. Drivers are urged to follow diversion signs and expect delays.
