Bomb Scare at Priddy Hard: Coastguard Seal Off Gosport Spot After Ordnance Find

An area around Priddy Hard in Gosport has been locked down after what’s believed to be unexploded ordnance was discovered. Coastguard rescue teams quickly cordoned off the scene and are now waiting for the bomb disposal experts to arrive.

Danger Zone: Blue and White Tape Blocks Access

Blue and white tape has been strung near the bridge as coastguard officers direct onlookers away from the suspect items. The evacuation includes bait diggers, who were moved to safety following the discovery of eight pieces of ordnance.

Chilling Find During Kayaker Search

The frightening discovery came while teams were searching for missing kayakers early Saturday morning, just after 6.30am. On-foot coastguard search and rescue teams uncovered a brown box containing unexploded shells amid other suspicious objects.

A 50-metre safety cordon is in place, with a Police MOD boat standing guard to prevent anyone from entering the hazardous zone.

Bomb Disposal Experts Set to Arrive at Dawn

Work has been paused overnight due to darkness and a rising tide, both considered too risky for handling explosives. Two coastguard officers marked the location amid fading light as the tide surged in.

Royal Navy bomb disposal experts are scheduled to arrive at first light to assess and safely deal with the potentially deadly cargo.
