One Dead, Five Injured After Devastating Collapse
The incident struck at 4.05pm when a loud bang echoed through the power station. Half of Boiler 1 gave way, sending dust plumes billowing and chaos erupting. A demolition worker died on the spot, and five others suffered injuries.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene, Declare Major Incident
South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) quickly declared a major incident. Two air ambulances, six land ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, and a hazardous area team were dispatched. Around 50 nearby residents sought treatment for breathing problems caused by the thick dust cloud.
Specialist Rescue Teams and Dogs Scour Rubble Through the Night
Firefighters called in elite urban search and rescue squads from Buckinghamshire and beyond. Equipped with sniffer dogs, they have been combing the wreckage tirelessly through the night in a desperate hunt for the three missing men.
“We are doing everything possible to find survivors,” said a rescue official.
