Night of Horror on M40: Multiple Crashes Leave One Dead, Several Injured
The M40 nightmare unfolded late Monday night between junctions 12 and 13 near Leamington Spa. West Midlands Ambulance Service raced to the scene at 11.05pm after reports of a multi-vehicle collision on the northbound carriageway.
Gruesome Rescue as Man Pulled From Crushed Lorry
Two paramedic officers, four ambulances, and a critical care paramedic from the Air Ambulance Service arrived to find a seriously injured HGV driver trapped inside his vehicle. Fire crews joined ambulance staff to carefully free the man while trauma care was administered on the spot.
The injured driver was rushed on blue lights to University Hospital coventry/" title="Coventry" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Coventry and Warwickshire for emergency treatment.
Other Victims Hurt But Stable
- Driver of a second HGV and a car driver both escaped with minor injuries and were taken to Warwick Hospital.
- Driver of a third HGV was discharged at the scene.
Second Smash on Same Stretch Turns Fatal Early Tuesday
Just after midnight, a separate crash on the same northbound M40 stretch, near Warwick Services, sent another ambulance and paramedic officer racing to the scene alongside South Central Ambulance Service.
Tragically, one man driving an HGV was confirmed dead at the scene. Another HGV driver, described as ‘walking wounded’, was treated before being taken to Warwick Hospital.
A car driver involved suffered minor injuries and was discharged after assessment by ambulance staff.
The M40 stretch has now become a focal point of emergency services battling multiple serious crashes in quick succession.
