Water Crisis Hits Thanet and Tunbridge Wells
Thousands woke up to low water pressure, and some households have no water at all. Southern Water has confirmed a major burst pipe is to blame, affecting Broadstairs, Manston, Margate, Ramsgate, and parts of Tunbridge Wells.
Major Burst at Rumfields Reservoir
The chaos started early this morning when a significant burst occurred at the Rumfields Water Supply Reservoir. Southern Water crews are currently excavating the site to fix the problem but can’t say when normal supply will resume.
“We understand how inconvenient and upsetting it can be to be without water,” Southern Water said. “We are working as hard as we can to resolve this.”
Emergency Response Underway
- Bottled water is already being delivered to those on the Priority Services Register.
- Water stations for the wider community will be announced soon.
- Emergency services and partners are helping critical sites like care homes and GP surgeries with water tanker deliveries.
