A suspected bomb brought into Bromley Police Station on Saturday evening sparked a major emergency response, with officers swiftly implementing a safety cordon to protect staff and the public.

The drama unfolded just after 6.15pm on April 12, when a member of the public arrived at the station carrying what they believed was an unexploded device. Front desk officers immediately raised the alarm and called in bomb disposal experts to assess the threat.
The Metropolitan Police acted fast, sealing off the area with a precautionary cordon and temporarily closing the station.
Bomb Squad Clears Device, Situation Calm
At 7.11pm, bomb disposal teams confirmed the suspicious object posed no risk. It was safely removed, and the cordon was lifted by 7.15pm.
No Injuries as Police Praise Calm Response
The incident ended without injuries, and the police station quickly resumed normal operations. A Met Police spokesperson said:
“A member of the public reported a suspected unexploded ordnance in Bromley Police Station on Saturday, 12 April at 18:16hrs. A precautionary safety cordon was put in place. At 19:11hrs, the item was deemed not to be a risk to the public and was removed from the location by specialist officers. The cordon was lifted at 19:15hrs.”
