Teen in Critical Condition After 30ft Fall from A3(M) Bridge Near Havant
A Havant teenager is fighting for his life after plummeting 30ft from a motorway bridge early this Wednesday.
Dramatic Fall Sparks Road Closure
At just before 1am, a passing motorist raised the alarm after spotting the 19-year-old fall from a bridge over the A3(M) near junction 4, close to Waterlooville. Police and Highways England quickly shut one lane of the A3(M) as emergency crews rushed to the scene.
Life-Threatening Injuries
The teenager was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remains in a critical condition in their specialist head trauma unit.
“We were called at 00:53 about a man who had fallen from a bridge over the A3(M),” a South Central Ambulance spokesperson said. “We sent an ambulance and a rapid response paramedic to this police-led incident. The 19-year-old from Havant suffered life-threatening injuries and has been taken to Southampton General Hospital where he remains.”
Road Reopens After Early Hours Emergency
The A3(M) lane closure was lifted just after 4am, reopening the motorway for commuters after the harrowing incident.
