Early Morning Blaze in Lewes: Smoke Alarms Save Lives
At around 3.25am on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service rushed to a fire in Lansdown Place, Lewes.
Garden Embers Ignite House Fire
The blaze started under garden decking from embers believed to be out. The fire quickly spread into the home, threatening serious damage.

Thankfully, smoke alarms inside the property kicked in fast, alerting residents who evacuated safely. This quick reaction helped emergency teams get the fire under control quickly.
Firefighters Douse Flames, No Injuries
Crews from Lewes and Preston Circus stations tackled the fire, putting it out before it could cause worse harm. Most importantly, nobody was hurt in the incident.
