“The Charlton Athletic community was Norman’s second family,” his family said. “He was thrilled to have won the 2024/2025 Colin Cameron Supporter of the Year award, proudly showing off his trophy at our last family gathering.”
“Norman was a cherished fan, a friend to many, and dearly loved by all.”
“He died doing what he loved most.”
For 40 Years, Norman Was The Face of Charlton
Norman Barker was a fixture at The Valley for over four decades. Known for his signature ‘Davy Crockett’ hat emblazoned with the club badge, his trusty headphones, and football badge-covered vests, he was a true Addick legend.
Manager Nathan Jones recalled, “Meeting Norman in the summer to present him the Supporter of the Year award was a real pleasure. He epitomised everything Charlton stands for—he was Charlton through and through.”
Jones also praised the club’s swift response: “The way everyone came together when Norman was struggling was a true display of the Charlton family spirit. We’ll honour his memory properly in the coming days.”
