Tragic Fatal Crash Shuts A5 Near Cannock

A man has died after being hit by a lorry on the busy A5 near Cannock this morning (Wednesday 31 December). Staffordshire Police were called to Watling Street at around 11am following reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a lorry.

Emergency Crews Race to the Scene

Officers joined West Midlands Ambulance Service and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service at the scene. Despite their efforts, paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead shortly after arriving. The victim’s family have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers.

Lorry Driver Unhurt as Road Closure Hits Traffic

The lorry driver walked away unscathed. The A5 was shut in both directions during emergency operations but is expected to reopen soon, easing delays on this crucial route.
