Flats Blaze Rips Through London Block – Woman and Child Treated
Two flats, stacked on the first and second floors of a three-storey residential block, are ablaze. Flames have also spread to part of the roof. Around 20 residents evacuated safely before firefighters arrived on the scene.
Firefighters Battle Fierce Blaze Amid Heavy Smoke
A woman and child suffered smoke inhalation and have been treated by the London Ambulance Service at the scene. Fire crews from multiple stations including Tooting, Wimbledon, Norbury, and West Norwood are tackling the flames. The Brigade’s 999 Control has received about 15 calls reporting the incident.
Firefighters are using a 64-metre turntable ladder as a water tower to attack the blaze from above. Crews are making steady progress in extinguishing the fire, which continues to produce significant smoke.
Smoke Blankets Area – Locals Urged to Stay Indoors
Residents nearby are advised to keep windows and doors closed due to the heavy smoke plumes. Drivers should avoid the area, particularly London Road near Arnold Road junction, as traffic disruption builds up.
This fire has already sparked delays affecting local transport across the London bus network. Authorities warn of ongoing chaos as emergency services work to bring the situation under control.
