Atlanta’s Water Woes Drag On After Major Main Break
Atlanta residents woke up to more trouble Monday as water supply issues persisted for many, despite repairs over the weekend.
Midtown Resident’s Morning Shower Ends in Tears
Milena Franco, a Midtown local, enjoyed water all weekend. But Monday morning’s shower came to a halt when the water suddenly cut off.
“I got in the shower and I just cried for a little bit,” Franco said.
Water Main Break Sparks Chaos
City officials shut off water in the immediate neighborhood to stop a relentless geyser blasting water into the streets since Friday night. The broken main finally stopped spewing by sunrise Monday, after parts were trucked in from Alabama under police escort.
Despite the fix, large swathes of Atlanta remain on a boil-water advisory. Even areas where water pressure returned after a Saturday leak repair are not out of the woods.
City Scrambles to Restore Service Amid Resident Frustration
Outages and ongoing disruptions have residents fuming at slow repairs and poor communication. Mayor Andre Dickens pledged a focused response, saying,
“We are laser-focused on this problem, and my administration understands how critical water is for our lifeline in this city.”
Crew efforts continue around the clock to restore normal service. Residents are urged to follow official updates and stick to the boil water advisory until told otherwise.
