Two Arrested Over Disappearance and Suspected Murders of Father and Son in Spain

Sussex Police have arrested two men in connection with the mysterious disappearance and suspected murders of Daniel “Danny” Poole, 46, and his son Liam Poole, 22. The Burgess Hill pair vanished in 2019 during a trip to Malaga, Spain.

New Developments: Two Men Detained

This week, detectives arrested a man in his 30s from West Sussex and another in his 40s from Merseyside. Both men were questioned and then released under investigation, as enquiries continue into the suspected murders.

The case was reopened as a murder investigation in 2022 after suspicious circumstances came to light. Danny and Liam’s grey Peugeot was found abandoned in Malaga, while their luggage and passports were left behind at their hotel — pointing to a planned disappearance.

Detectives Launch Urgent Appeal for Info

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Dunn urged anyone with information to come forward, saying:

“Although Danny and Liam went missing in Spain, we believe there are people in the UK who may hold vital information about their disappearance. It’s not too late to do the right thing. Even the smallest detail could be the piece of the puzzle we need. We will listen and investigate any new leads to bring justice and provide answers to their families.”

Sussex Police have put up a £10,000 reward for tips leading to arrests and charges. The case is now being led by Surrey and Sussex Police Major Crime Team, having recently taken over from Spanish authorities.
