Walker Seriously Injured After Being Hit by Van in Farnham
A pedestrian out for a cool evening stroll in Bagshot Lea was hospitalised after a collision with a van last night.
Van Strikes Pedestrian on Weybourne Lane
The crash happened just after 8.20pm on 19th July when a Vauxhall van hit the walker who stepped off the pavement. Police confirmed the driver stopped at the scene. The victim was rushed to Southampton General Hospital with serious head and leg injuries.
Road Shut for Hours as Police Investigate
Weybourne Lane was shut for several hours, with police blocking both ends as crash investigators carried out skid tests and measured the scene. Residents described the road as a dangerous rat run where near misses are common.
“There are skid marks all over the place. I’ve lost count of how many times cars have nearly crashed or hit people trying to cross,” one local said. “Drivers use it to dodge traffic and get to the Farnham bypass.”
Driver Questioned, Road Reopens Early Wednesday
Police have spoken to the van driver but did not disclose if any arrests were made. Weybourne Lane reopened shortly after 1.30am on Wednesday morning.
