Five Held After Brutal Street Brawl and Stabbing in Southampton
Southampton police have swooped on five youths following a violent spate of attacks across Netley and Sholing. The incidents, all linked, unfolded on Monday afternoon and evening, leaving one teen stabbed and another robbed at knifepoint.
Youths Brawl on Station Road
Officers were first called at 4.15pm to a large fight involving young people on Station Road, Netley. Police quickly broke up the group, but found a 15-year-old boy injured with wounds to his arm and chest. Thankfully, his injuries aren’t believed to be serious.
Robbery and Stabbing Follow on Sholing Streets
Later, around 6.30pm, a 15-year-old boy was threatened on Sholing Road by a gang of boys and girls demanding his phone. They made off with the device without further violence.
At 8pm, chaos erupted again on Merryoak Road, where a 19-year-old man was stabbed in a public order incident. He was rushed to Southampton General Hospital with injuries that police say aren’t life-threatening.
Five Southampton Teens Arrested
- 18-year-old male
- 15-year-old boy
- 15-year-old girl
- 14-year-old boy
- 13-year-old boy
All five were arrested in connection with the incidents and police say the attacks were targeted.
Police Call for Witnesses and Video Evidence
“We want to reassure the community with increased patrols,” said Detective Inspector Rob Heath. “These daylight attacks in residential areas won’t be tolerated. Anyone who saw anything—or caught it on CCTV, dash cam, or phone—please get in touch.”
Police want to hear from anyone who:
- Witnessed the fighting or attacks
- Was on a train travelling west towards Southampton after 4pm on July 25 and saw the group
- Has video footage that could help the investigation
