Ambulance Driver Left Red-Faced After Getting Stuck in Sainsbury’s Car Park!

An ambulance crew faced an embarrassing blunder after their vehicle got wedged in a Newport, Hampshire car park while rushing to an emergency at Sainsbury’s.

Ambulance Snared Under Low Ceiling

The paramedic tried to squeeze through a low-ceilinged section of the car park but ended up stuck. In the process, the ambulance smashed the overhead lights, causing a bit of chaos.

Staff Team Up to Free the Stuck Ambulance

Luckily, the emergency was still attended to without delay. A second ambulance was sent to transfer the patient to St Mary’s Hospital. Meanwhile, seven Sainsbury’s employees joined forces, deflating each tyre to wiggle the ambulance free.

Chris Smith, Clinical Director for Ambulance Urgent Care & Community, said: “Whilst attending an emergency at Sainsbury’s yesterday, the ambulance became stuck as it attempted to go through the car park instead of around the side, to the main doors.

The patient was still attended to by the ambulance crew without delay, and another ambulance was dispatched to convey the patient to St Mary’s Hospital.”

Investigation Launched Over Parking Blunder

An official inquiry is now underway to find out exactly how the ambulance ended up in such a tight spot. In the meantime, medics remind drivers to stick to designated routes and avoid shortcuts that could cost vital minutes.
