M1 Motorway Closed after Horror crash leaves Five People fighting for their Lives

Five people have been injured in a multi-vehicle crash which has closed the M1 in Bedfordshire between Milton Keynes and Luton. One man in his twenties is in a critical condition in St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington after suffering a head injury. One of the busiest sections of motorway in the Anglia region is likely to remain closed for much of the morning on Christmas Eve. Drivers are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys especially if they are heading for Luton airport. Bedfordshire Police are carrying out investigations following a serious road traffic incident between Junction 12 at Flitwick/Woburn and Junction 13 for Bedford. The road has been closed in both directions since the incident at 2.33am and police investigations are continuing at the scene. The East of England Ambulance Service joined the Magpas Air Ambulance rapid response BMW on the scene. A signed diversion route is in place and drivers planning to travel to Luton airport are advised to allow extra time and to plan their journeys. Traffic for London is advised to use the A14/A1 and drivers heading towards the Midlands are being advised to use the M40.” – Highways England .
