Teen Girl Killed After 4×4 Crashes Into Tree Near Ashford
A 17-year-old girl has tragically died after a silver Suzuki Swift ploughed into a tree near Ashford. Three others remain seriously injured following the horrific smash on Mundy Bois Road, Egerton.
Crash Details
- The crash happened at around 8.20pm on Saturday, 4 July 2020.
- Six people were inside the Suzuki Swift travelling towards Egerton when the car left the road near Kingsland Lane.
- The vehicle collided with a tree in a residential garden.
- The 17-year-old girl passenger died en route to hospital.
- Three others – a 19-year-old man, an 18-year-old man, and another 17-year-old girl – were rushed to a London hospital, all in serious but stable condition.
Suspects Arrested Over Driving Offences
Kent Police arrested a 19-year-old man from Ashford and a 17-year-old girl from Maidstone, both previously treated and discharged from hospital. They remain in custody as investigations continue.
Due to a police vehicle being nearby at the crash time, the force has made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit urgently wants to hear from anyone who saw the Suzuki Swift before the crash. Officers are keen to know how the vehicle was being driven and trace its movements.
