British Soldier Faces Court Over Horror Crash That Killed Two Teen Runners

Micheal Casey, a serving British Army soldier, appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court charged over the tragic deaths of two teenage girls mowed down by the Ford Focus he was driving. Stacey Burrows, 16, and Lucy Pygott, 17, were fatally struck as they crossed Queen’s Avenue during a training run on November 8th with the Aldershot, Farnham and District Athletics Club.

Fatal Crash Shocks Community

The teens were out running when the horrific collision happened. Both girls died from their injuries, leaving their families devastated. Casey, 24, from St Pauls Road, Tottenham, London, made a brief court appearance this morning, dressed sharply in a blue suit. He confirmed only his name and address and did not enter a plea.

Next Hearing Set for April

Prosecutors expect Casey to enter a plea when the case returns to Winchester Crown Court on April 13. Meanwhile, he’s been granted unconditional bail. The packed courtroom was filled with relatives and friends of the victims, supported by family liaison officers.
