Cop Seriously Hurt in Hit-and-Run on Coulter Road

Officer Injured During Speed Checks

At 3.16pm on Friday, 26 January 2024, a police officer conducting foot patrol speed checks on Coulter Road, near Hedgers Way junction, was struck by a vehicle. The officer suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital. Thankfully, he has since been discharged and is recovering at home.

Silver Vauxhall Vectra Fleeing the Scene

The hit-and-run car is believed to be a silver Vauxhall Vectra. A matching vehicle was later found abandoned in Hornash Lane, Shadoxhurst. Witnesses reported it traveling along Tally Ho Road shortly after the collision.

Five Arrests Made, Investigation Ongoing

Police arrested five locals in connection to the incident: three men aged 19, 23, and 37, plus two others aged 19 and 32. The 23-year-old remains in custody. The others have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Kent and Essex Serious Crime officers canvassed Coulter Road on 2 February, speaking to locals for information to aid the probe.
