East London Murder Probe Underway After Man Dies Following Attack
Detectives from the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command have launched a murder inquiry after a 59-year-old man died from serious injuries sustained in an assault.
Victim Found Bloodied and Shaking in Bed
Just after midnight on Monday, 26 March, officers rushed to an east London hospital where the victim was admitted. He had been assaulted and seriously hurt. Police then sealed off his home on Stern Close, Barking, treating it as a crime scene.
Those at the property said the victim went to bed the previous night. He was found in the morning shaking with blood pouring from his nose. The London Ambulance Service attended the address and rushed him to hospital that evening.
Man Dies; Three Arrested Over Murder
The man sadly died at 16:37hrs on Tuesday, 27 March. Police immediately launched a murder investigation. Three suspects have been arrested on suspicion of murder: a 48-year-old man, and two women aged 51 and 34.
The 51-year-old woman remains in custody at a North London police station. The others have been interviewed and released under investigation.
Meanwhile, a fourth man was arrested separately for failing to appear at court and has been remanded in custody.
Post-Mortem Scheduled; Police Seek Public Help
A post-mortem examination is due on Thursday, 29 March. Formal identification of the victim is yet to be confirmed. Police are in the process of informing next of kin.
