Isle of Wight Pumping station fails

East Cowes Albany sewerage pumping station has failed this evening. The brake down has caused a fleet of tankers to be brought in by Southern Water who are pumping out and taking the sewerage to the Spring Hill pumping station. Rubber seals have failed and are being replaced on the pumps. I’m informed that its hoped they will be replaced by the early morning bathroom rush. It’s an urgent action which Southern Water are taking to prevent discharging sewerage directly into the sea. I was assured by work men that this had not occurred who also said they were keeping on top of the situation.
