Fire Crews Called to Tackle Blaze after large Fire at Garden Centre in Titchfield

Fire crews from Fareham and Hightown have been called to deal with a three large outdoor plastic polytunnels that are on fire this evening. The fire broke out at Solent Nurseries on Funtley Road in Titchfield just after 8pm. Fire crews from both stations are being supported by a water carrier also from Fareham. The size of the tunnel is thought to be 50 meters in length. Resident in both Titchfield and Whitley have reported a large explosion and lots of thick smoke. Officers from Hampshire Roads Policing where also called to the incident as it was thought that the M27 may have need to be closed due the the smoke levels. A spokesman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze caused a large amount of smoke but due to the hard work of crews that the fire was now out. A liquid propane cylinder was also cooled and made safe by firefighters It is understood that the Nursery was closed when the blaze broke out. No one is thoguht to have been hurt.
